Leighton - Web Designer - North East


The Role

Due to the growth of existing contracts, we are seeking to recruit a seriously talented and experienced Web Designer to make a significant contribution to the continued success of our business. You will take responsibility for the effective design and delivery of outstanding web sites and email marketing, concept visuals, documentation, assets and consultancy. As a key member of the design team, you will work closely with our clients; therefore your ability to communicate effectively is as important as your creative and technical talent.

You will take the responsibility for:

  • Producing modern and innovative UI design for websites, web applications, email marketing templates and associated assets.
  • Develop HTML/CSS/JavaScript functional prototype page builds and accompanying documentation.
  • Work alongside Web Developers to integrate prototype pages with backend functionality to create fully operational websites.
  • Fluid communication and presentation with clients to discuss and meet their requirements.

Who we are looking for

We’re looking for a motivated, talented and professional Junior Web Designer with a wealth of knowledge and application of modern design styles and technologies to create outstanding websites. We’re looking for someone with the following:

  • A degree in a relevant web/design discipline.
  • A minimum of 2 years commercial web design experience, ideally within a creative agency environment.
  • A strong, demonstratable portfolio of web design work showing visual concept through to build, development and deployment.
  • Intimate coding knowledge of xHTML and CSS.
  • Experience in using JavaScript, JQuery and AJAX to build rich websites.
  • Expert knowledge in using Adobe CS3/4 products; Photoshop, Dreamweaver, Illustrator, Flash and Fireworks .
  • A demonstrable knowledge and application of website design best practices, information architecture, usability issues and accessibility based on w3c guidelines.
  • Experience working with and communicating directly with the client.
  • Effective presentation skills both internally to peers and management but also externally with clients.
  • A sense of humour and a positive, proactive attitude to work.
